Week 2
Research

Back in 2021, people started to become worried about the quality of the water in Comox Lake, which is the place where Courtenay and Comox get their drinking water from. (https://comoxvalley.news/water-quality-and-the-problem-with-private-land-loggers/) The fact was that there had been a history of bad logging* done around the lake and this resulted in it being more prone to turbidity** and pathogens.
*Logging is the process of cutting, processing, and moving trees to a location for transport (Wikipedia).
**Turbidity is the quality of being cloudy, opaque, or thick with suspended matter (Oxford Languages). For more info on Comox Lake turbidity visit https://www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/turbidity
Due to this, the locals received a water treatment plant as a solution. The local water treatment plant is located near Comox Lake. Sadly, I don’t think I will be able to go all the way down to Comox Lake due to time and the fact I don’t have a means of transport. For now, I need to do more research on a BC Hydro plant that is near me to see if I can at least get a picture of a sewage and drainage plant nearby.
I’ve been really tied up with work this past week but I finally got my hands on bigger SD cards and a tripod so I will be taking my indoor shots ASAP and I am hoping to go to the beach on Friday and get my ocean shots then! I will be a bit late on the update but all is planned so far.
I took some pictures of the beach before I got around to my indoor pictures for this week so I’ll list them with my LRC flow for next week update. Sadly, I accidentally shot a lot of them as jpegs so I was left with little options in RAW Here are my favorites as a sneak peek.
