U1 – WEEK1 – TECH EX 1: TAKING PICTURES | PRACTICE + EXPLORE

ISO: 400
Focal Length: 18-55mm
Exposure time: 1/125
f/4.5
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 18-55mm
Exposure time: 1/60
f/7.1

I was messing around using my camera on Auto, but the shots kept coming back overexposed despite a balance of 0 on each one. Since I’ve taken a course before I decided to underexpose them. I did use autofocus every time and kept my iso at 400 and shutter at 1/60 minimum. What is interesting about these shots is that without meaning to, I took pictures of different textures in the outdoors and also that despite being underexposed, the sky is still coming up as white. I learned that auto doesn’t exactly always do what you want it to and the results might not be optimal.

U1 – TECH EX 02: Lightroom Classic (Desktop) File Management (import+export)+Basic Photo Editing

I found this exercise to be a bit of a struggle. I had to rewatch the videos several times to understand what was going on but when I finally got the hang of it it was really easy. I had fun messing around with the editing tools and just being free to do whatever I wanted with my images. I took these pictures about 2 years ago with my family and friends from when I studied in Mexico.

U1 – TECH EX 03: LRC SYNCHRONIZING WORKFLOWS:  BATCH EDITING + VIRTUAL COPIES

Virtual Copies

Batch Editing

These images were taken right after another so I thought they would be perfect for this exercise because they were very underexposed. I gave the first image a warmer tint and made it brighter. I added contrast and vibrance to make the colors pop so that everything looks more alive. Winter days can look really somber and I wanted the mood to be happier.
