Video Proposal
Option 1: Video Poem on Movement
Proposal one is based on the concept of movement, that there is energy and motion in all things as they flow around us through our daily life. I will be capturing movement as a principle and attempting to capture it through unique lighting, and camera angles for each shot. I have chosen to do six shots; one of the river, a trail of ants, cars on the highway, trees, the clouds and students on campus. I believe these best capture the idea that there is action and movement in all forms, sizes and speeds that we encounter without acknowledgment on a regular basis. my goal is to capture the most movement possible for each of the 6 shots, prioritizing that principle over any other for the nature of the peace. the mood will be on the more relaxed and joyful side. this will bring out the natural beauty in the rhythm that makes up movement as a concept. the audio will be relaxed as well to provide less distraction from the motion of each individual shot.
Option 2: Video Poem on Time
Proposal two is based on the idea of time passing by on a normal day in my life. There should be a timelapse on the shots that are based on actual time of day like sunrise, sunset and the sky. Perhaps play around with starting with a POV of the hiking shot and then seeing a sunset before cutting to a night sky. There are 6 shots in total. The shots are a sunrise, the start of the day with a cup of coffee, working on a laptop for work or school, taking a hike, a sunset and finally the night sky. The mood is meant to be relaxed and calm.
TECH EX 06: Shot Composition
In this exercise, we had to explore the different camera angles and shots we were taught in that week’s lesson. I tried to make the pictures pretty dynamic but, there were certain shots that were more complicated than others. I also think it’s really hard to be thinking of elements to incorporate while also worrying about angles and shots.

TECH EX 07: VIDEO Editing the Basics
In this exercise, we learned the basics of video editing and tools for Premiere Pro. We learned how to trim clips, nest and loop audio and link and unlink audio from video. We also learned some basic transitions and how to try and remove some shakiness from recorded footage.
TECH EX 08: Titles + Stills
In these exercises, we learned how to create titles and stills for our videos. In the first video, we learned how to use the essential graphics tab to add and link text boxes and animations and the effects control tab to animate these text boxes with keyframes. We also learned how to use and edit some premade titles in the adobe app. In the second video, we learned how to fix the resolution, rotation, and sizing of our stills to match our video resolution. We learned how to animate the stills regarding position and scale through the use of keyframes.
TECH EX 09: Colour + SFX + Masks
This exercise consisted of 3 different parts: basic color editing, color SFX, and spot color + masking. In the first 2 videos, we learned how to color-correct footage and how to analyze what needs fixing in our clips. We learned how to use basic tools like Lumetri Scopes and Colour but also how to use curves and later on how to match these corrections to the rest of our footage. In part 2 we learned how to stylize our clips by using things like tints, filters, and gaussian blur. In part 3, we learned how to create a mask and use it to follow a certain object in our footage. We created a mask around the kettle and brightened it up so it can be a point of focus.
VIDEO PROJECT
For our final project of unit 2 we filmed and edited our own video. I chose a video poem, which approached video as an art form. The formal elements I focused on were line, color, and negative space. I achieved the color element through the use of a black & white overlay on all shots. Because the snow was present in almost all shots it was easily perceived as the negative space and the same can be said for the shots of the sky. The line element was easily perceived through the trees, hydro lines, and also the stream of water. I believe the white in my video is way too bright and perhaps too overpowering. Because of the combination of the music box and the black & white, some people might perceive my video as eery, but I hope that is not the case. I had a lot of fun filming all of the footage even though it may be a little clumsy at first. The idea was that of a calm winter wonderland and the idea of the protagonist leading the viewer into and out the forest.
